Membership News - October 2024
Autumn is well underway but as the days shorten we can usefully spend the colder evenings finding out more about our the challenges we face during the growing season. This Monday 21st October Simon Harrap - notable expert and published author on wild flowers will be giving a talk at Hellesdon Community Centre entitled, ‘Wild Flowers in the Garden, Friend or Foe’ All members and guests are welcome.
The event will be chaired by Shirley King our Vice Chairman as John is away. The usual tables for the Table Show, Advice, Refreshments, Sales and Raffle will be there with our Treasurer Sandra at the door and able to answer any queries on membership and selling tickets to the Christmas Social and Quiz.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
This will take place on 18th November and is an opportunity for you to raise ideas and suggestions for the year ahead. All AGM documents will be sent by email and post. We are fortunate to have Lesley Webdale, Secretary of the Norfolk and Norwich Horticultural Society as a speaker this year who will talk about the work of the NNHS and its affiliate programme of local gardening clubs and horticultural societies such as ourselves.
John will report on the year and show a short video of some of the highlights from the past year from the events, garden visits and shows. Following the rest of the AGM business agenda there will be the Presentation of Awards and the Photographic Competition organised by Gerry. We hope to see you there.

2024 - HHA Autumn Show
Many thanks to all who entered for the Autumn Show on September 7th. Twenty one of you entered 227 exhibits, which was very pleasing and made a good display for people to look at. Understandably cut flower entries were down this year because of the difficult growing conditions we have experienced this year. It was particularly pleasing that we had entries from some new members, and that others who have only started entering recently have continued to do so. Keep it up!
